Shola Ameobi insists the Newcastle players are no concerned by the off-field drama at St James’ Park.
Joe Kinnear resigned as the club’s director of football on Monday evening, less than eight months after he was appointed by owner Mike Ashley.
The club have no plans to replace Kinnear for the time being, but the issue is not distracting the squad as they are only interested in bouncing back from last weekend’s derby defeat with victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
“As players, you just concentrate on your job,” Ameobi told Sky Sports.
“In football, there are a lot of different aspects to it. As players, ultimately what we have got to do is concentrate on what we do as a group of guys on the pitch and try and implement what the coaching staff want us to do. That’s our focus, that’s always been the player’s focus.
