The Offa Branch of Kwara State Bankers  Forum has directed all commercial banks in Offa to reopen for business on Monday, February 3.
The Branch Controller of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Monday Olotewo, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Ilorin.
NAN recalled that banks in Offa were hurriedly shut on December 19, 2013, when robbers stormed some banks in the town, killing a number of people.
The robbers also raided a divisional police station in the town.
The frequent bank robberies in the state also forced banks in Ilorin to shut doors to customers from 2pm.
Olotewo told NAN that the forum also agreed to lift restriction on banking hours in Ilorin.
He said the banks in Offa were being reopened because the community had shown commitment to collaborating with security agents to check the menace.
He said the government also promised to build more police posts in the area.
Meanwhile, the State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has commended the Banker’s Forum for restoring normal banking operations in Ilorin and Offa.
