On Saturday, a Russian passenger plane almost collided with an Argentinian jet as it was coming in for a landing at Barcelona's El Prat Airport. The resulting crash would have been a re-enactment of the crash of USAir Flight 1493, if not for the quick thinking of one Russian airline pilot.
UTair Aviation 767 was about to touch down on arrival from Moscow when an Aerolineas Argentinas Airbus A340 pulled onto the runwaya few hundred feet ahead.
Fortunately, the pilot of the Russian plane was able to pull up in time, likely saving the lives of passengers onboard both aircrafts in the process.
