Hello folks, today i'm bringing you another hot and useful
tutorial for Android Users on how to share files without USB
cable or Bluetooth between your PC and android device.
Before i start i will like to direct you to one of the useful
tutorials i already posted here in case you've not seen it.
1. Get an amazing sound out of your android device. If you're a
music lover you'll surely love this.
Also if the sound in your entire device is not good or loud
enough, that tut is for ya! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Back to the lecture at hand:
Don't be frightened by the length of the tutorial, it's as simple
as A,B,C
With this tutorial you can:
*transfer files at speeds much higher than bluetooth and pretty
close to USB between Phone and PC
*Play Audio, Videos and read documents stored on your PC
directly on your phone. This is super cool and useful if your
phone has small storage space.
* You don't have to be close to ur PC, you can be in the toilet
and still do your thing (That's if una toilet no dey inside bush o
lol..)
And some cool advantages
NEEDED:
1. Accessible WIFI network or LAN. OR Portable hotspot on
your device.
(Note: you don't need to have internet Plan or Internet access)
2. ES file explorer. This is free from playstore. I uploaded a copy
too. You may use other File Managers
3. Windows PC xp/vista/7/8 with administarative rights
PROCEDURE 1
## Find IP Address or make static IP[optional]
* Put on your Portable hotspot from your device and connect
your PC
* Enable "file sharing and turn on device" if prompted
(I'm using windows Cool or right click the connection and enable
it.
* Go to network connections by Start Run (or press Windows
key + R), Type "ncpa.cpl" (without quotes) and press enter
* Double click on the Wireless or LAN connection depending
on what you're using
* Click on details and here note down
a. IPv4 Address.
b. IPv4 Subnet Mask
c. Default Gateway
d. DNS Server.
OR
## Find System Name by
Right my computer, then click properties, below you'll see your
System Name.
NOTE: System name is not the same as User name.
If you want to use IP address method is better to use static IP
address, in this case the IP won't be changed by the Router.
To set static IP address:
a. Go to Network Connections
b. Double click on the connection
c. Click on properties
d. Double click on - Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and
fill up the IP address as you have noted them down above.
e. Click on OK for all dialogue boxes. PROCEDURE 2
Install ES file Explorer
PROCEDURE 3
1. Windows Vista/7/8 PC:
i. Share the drives or folder you want to access by
a. Right click on the folder you want to share
b. Go to the sharing tab
c. Click on "Advanced Sharing"
d. In the next dialog box tick on "Share the folder"
e. Click on "Permissions" and tick on all the checkboxes under
allow.
f. Click OK to all the dialog boxes
ii. Open ES File Explorer in your device
iii. On top select LAN or swipe to the left
iv. Tap on "New"
v. Here in server field type the IP address (that is IPv4 Address)
or the system name
vi. Type in the Username and Password which you use to access
your Windows PC
(Or instead of tapping 'New' just tap 'SCAN' enter your PC
username and Password)
vii. Give a name under "Display as" for easy identification
viii. Tap on OK.
ix.Now you will see an laptop with globe icon. Tap on it and
you will see all your shared files/folder of the system there. 2. Windows XP PC
i. Firstly you will need to enable Guest account by going to
Control Panel – User Accounts – Guest Account – Click on
"Turn on Guest account". This is because there is no other way I
found to access the files in Windows XP in Android device with
actual user name and password.
ii. Share the drives or folder you want to access by:
a. Right click on the folder you want to share
b. Go to the sharing tab
c. Click the "If you understand the risk but still want to share
the folder, click here"
d. Under "Network Sharing and Security" tick on "Share this
folder on the network" and also on "Allow network users to
change my files"
e. Click OK
iii. Open ES File Explorer in your device
iv. On top select LAN or swipe left
Useful tips:
1: You can increase the transfer speed by moving near to the
router. The closer you are to the router the higher speed you
gain.
2: You can even make shortcut of the folder in the network and
place them on the home screen of the app. Do to that on ES File
Explorer simply long press on the folder and choose "Add to
server list".
Notes:
1: Please note that no internet connection is required to make
this possible. Everything is done through the local network.
Take out the idea from your mind that Wi-Fi is only for internet.
2: There are various other apps like KiesAir, AirDroid. But that
will require you to be near the PC and access the files through a
WebUI. But the guide which I have laid out here works from PC
to device directly. You can sit at your living room, kitchen or
bedroom or where you like within the Wi-Fi network and you
are good to go.
