Russian scientists have lost contact with satellite filled with geckos which were sent into space to study the effects of sex in a weightless environment, according to report.
The Foton–M4 craft which was launched on the July 19 was carrying five geckos, fruit flies and plant seeds when it lost contact with mission control the ITAR-Tassnews agency reported.
The satellite is transmitting its location and the performance of its systems, but it is not responding to commands according to a press release from from Roscosmos, Russia’s Federal Space Agency.
The other experiments that were planed for the mission included growing pure crystals for the production of semiconductors,
The satellite was expected to land in the in southern Orenburg region southeast of Moscow in two months time.
